Jeff proposed in a very unique way. We had plans to travel to Breckenridge, Colorado. I was thinking it was just another vacation. We both love to travel and Jeff was itching to go snowboarding again. So off we go! I made all the travel arrangements months ahead of time. Little did I know that he was not only anticipating our trip…
but anxiously awaiting our engagement! Our first day out on the slopes was a tough one (for me). I hadn’t been skiing in over 9 years, and it was not as easy as I remembered it to be. (I busted my butt hard!) I turned in early and told Jeff to go ahead and stay out and have some fun. The next day, I was doing much better. He and I were on Peak 9 going down the Frontier run when he said:
“Hey, why don’t I go a bit down the slope and take some action shots of you skiing?”
Being the facebook lover I am, I was all for it. So he slides on down the hill. Being on a snowboard, he had to either be on his butt or knees to be still, so when he dropped to his knees, I thought nothing of it. So here I go, swoosh, swoosh, swoosh; skiing down the hill towards him. When I reach him I smile a big smile (partially because I actually made it and didn’t fall). I look down and he has something in his hand. Something velvet, small and blue. My heart skipped a beat! He opens the box and starts talking about how much we’ve been though, and how, through all our ups and downs, we’ve still loved each other more and more. At this point I start bawling, so I can’t really remember what else he said. I’m sure it was lovely. Finally he looks up at me while I’m crying and says:
“Is that a yes?”
“YES!” I babble out, still in tears. He slips the ring on my finger and I leaned down to kiss him.

Now my ski goggle are all fogged up, full of tears and my scarf is wet and freezing. But to a great end! We slide down the mountain the rest of the way together and I admired my ring more. He custom designed it for me including a symbol that’s close to my heart. February 4th, 2011 is a day I will never forget!
